Wrongful Death Lawsuit Filed Against Goodyear After Driver Kills Man

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company was sued in San Bernardino Superior Court on behalf of the survivors of a man who was killed while riding his electric bicycle when a Goodyear truck struck him.

The fatal collision occurred on September 22, 2025, in the City of Chino, CA. Jesus Rodriguez was lawfully riding an electric bicycle westbound on Schaefer Avenue in a designated bike lane when he entered an intersection. At the same time, a commercial box truck operated by Joe Anaya Jr. and owned by Goodyear was traveling southbound on the same street.

According to the complaint, Mr. Anaya failed to stop at a posted stop sign, failed to yield the right of way, and made a right turn directly into Mr. Rodriguez’s path. The truck struck Mr. Rodriguez and dragged him beneath the vehicle, crushing him. Although he did not die immediately, Mr. Rodriguez allegedly endured significant pain and suffering before succumbing to his injuries.

“Mr. Rodriguez was a beloved man who was minding his own business and obeying the law when tragedy struck,” said wrongful death attorney Alex Guerrero of Mendez & Sanchez. “Now, his wife, his children, and all of his loved ones have to live with this tragedy because of this extreme negligence.”

Attorneys for the survivors argue that Mr. Anaya was negligent in operating the truck and that Goodyear is legally liable because he was acting within the course and scope of his employment at the time of the collision. The lawsuit further alleges that Goodyear was negligent in hiring, training, supervising, and retaining Mr. Anaya, and that it negligently entrusted him with a commercial vehicle despite knowing or having reason to know he was unfit to operate it.

The case is Estate of Jesus Rordiguez et a. v. The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, San Bernardino Superior Court, Case No. CIVRS2603171.
